14th Annual ALS Golf Classic

Tournament Format and Rules

Format:18-hole Tournament / Four Person Scramble / Shotgun Start

  1. Scramble means that all four team members tee off on each hole and then decide which tee shot they like the best.

  2. The other team members pick up their balls and place them within one club length (no closer to the hole) of the chosen tee shot.

  3. This procedure is followed on every shot for the remainder of the hole, including putts.

  4. Men play from the white tees, Women from the red tees.

Scoring:

  1. We're keeping it simple with no incorporation of handicaps etc. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winning foursomes will be determined by lowest gross team scores.

  2. Please tally your scores before handing in your scorecard.

Rules:

  1. Double bogey is the maximum team score on any hole. Teams that reach a score of double bogey on a hole are to pick-up and move on to the next tee.

  2. When moving golf balls to the spot of the selected shot, the other golfers on the team can play from within one-club length of the original spot. But that one-club length cannot be closer to the hole, and it can't improve the lie of the original ball. That is, if the selected shot is in the first cut of rough, then the other members of the team cannot hit from the fairway even if the fairway is within one club-length. Likewise, you can't move a ball onto the putting green when the selected ball is in the fringe or move the ball out of a sand trap even if relief is within one club-length.

  3. Threesomes are permitted to rotate a fourth shot from each ball location. In other words, one person will be hitting twice from each position. However, the person hitting two shots cannot do so consecutively. (For example, its Player A’s turn to hit two shots. The other team members must play their ball in between Player A’s two shots. The rotation should be set at the beginning of the round, and remain constant throughout.

  4. In the event of a 5 person team. Only 4 are allowed to tee off, and play each hole. Members must rotate with one person sitting out each hole. (For example, If Rotating Players A – E with A playing the first hole and Player E sitting out, Player A, would sit out on holes 2, 7, 12, 17. Player B would sit out holes 3, 8, 13, 18 and so on.)

  5. In the event of a tie to determine 1st, 2nd, 3rd place, ties will be broken by going from the last hole all the way to the first hole until there is a winner. For instance, if Foursome A and Foursome B both scored a 65, they will have to break their tie. On hole 18, they both scored 4s. Now, we move to hole 17. Foursome A scores a 2 while Foursome B scores a 3. Foursome A wins the tie-breaker.

  6. Please have a great time!

Etiquette / Pace of Play:

  1. Keep the round moving by being prepared to hit your shot when it is your turn.

  2. Play “ready golf", Each player plays when ready and it is safe..

  3. Do not spend more than 2 minutes looking for a lost ball.

  4. Always keep pace with the group in front of you. Don’t worry about the group behind you. It is their job to keep up with you.

  5. When walking from your cart to your ball, take a couple clubs with you.

  6. Always leave the putting green as soon as your group has finished putting

  7. Mark your score at the next tee box, not on the green.
