In Memory of Charles (Gus) Schuetz M.D.
Thank you all so much for supporting Team Gus! As most of you know, Team Gus was started last year to honor my dad, Charles (Gus) M. Schuetz, M.D. He was diagnosed with bulbar onset ALS in 2017 and got his wings on October 25th 2019.
Our goal is to continue to raise ALS awareness and get donations for the ALS association San Diego Chapter. We were able to see firsthand how vital the ALS association is, not only for the patients but for their families. They participate in the much needed research, as there is still so much we don’t know about this disease, there are no great medications to help slow progression and there is no cure. They are able to guide patients through the very complicated disease process, help find vendors for necessary equipment and offer loaner equipment when needed. They personally were able to assist in getting us a mobility van and provided a loaner mobility chair while my dad waited months for his personal chair to come in. There are honestly too many examples of how necessary the ALS association is and how grateful we were/are to have them by our side.
